When I first heard Classic Man by Jidenna, I actually didn’t care for it. I first read the lyrics and thought “Ahhh this is dumb”. Than the song got popular and I started hearing it EVERY WHERE!! Fast forward a couple of months, and Classic Man is the only song I listen to while I’m getting dapper-ed up. They’re a few things that I really liked about the video. 1. It’s in the streets of New York, Jidenna and a group of dapper-ed up guys are saving a couple of young bulls from being arrested (honestly wish that really happened in real life.) 2. Jidenna and his group take the young bulls to an exclusive club where they learn different traits. 3. The young bulls learn how to dress and carry themselves, and 4. THEY ALL LOOK SHARP, men and women both. That’s something I’d want to be apart of.
One thing in particular that caught my eye, is the club collar Jidenna rocks in most of the video. The round collar or club collar started in England at Eton college, an independent boarding school for boys back in the 1400’s. The club collar was a way for students to belong to something exclusive and once the world got a hold of it, it grew in popularity. What attracted me most to the club collar was how fun but elegant it looks while wearing a tie or not wearing a tie. In this post, I’m rocking a tab collar. Which is similar to a club collar, the tab collar has two small tabs in the middle of the collar points. That connect under the tie, pushing the knot of the tie up and out.
Very Classic Man if you ask me.
I styled my tab collar shirt with my blue Zara jacket, a multi color paisley tie, off white pants and some loafers.
