Wearing your favorite blue gingham shirt out of the office
Living in a city like Houston, a few things are for certain; the weather/heat in Houston can reach in the 90’s and 100’s quickly; fashion and style in Houston are on the casual side. When it comes to office attire in Houston, it’s typically a uniform; chinos, button up (with or without a tie), a polo, and dress shoes. I do have to say, if you’re a lawyer, doctor, banker your fashion sense is similar to Wall Street (dapper!).
I’ll tackle dapper office attire in a later post, but lets start with being cool and casual for an out office day or weekend. Being honest, wearing a gingham shirt was never my favorite, to me it never looked fashionable or went with my style. But I never went out of my way to incorporate it into my style; I did receive a custom gingham shirt once, but it just sits in my closet.
An out of office fit, is smart, cool, casual and laid back. It all goes with how you actual pair everything together without forcing it. Let’s take your favorite gingham shirt or any shirt and ask ourselves, how do I dress it down but still look approachable? Adding your favorite jeans, hat, and sneakers can dress down any attire from formal, business, to casual and adding a nice contrasting belt can give your look a pop of color. If you’re hanging out on a Saturday or grabbing brunch on a Sunday afternoon; you can’t go wrong with a style like this.
