A Simple and Contemporary take on Style
I’m sure we all can agree; packing for vacations can be a struggle. If you’re packing for a family vacation or solo mission vacation there are things you should pack and not pack. The first rule is packing lite; certain airlines can and will charge $50+ for packing over 45lbs, so avoid going over 45lbs and your pockets will thank you. Buying a great luggage with wheels or a canvas duffle bag can take you a long way, both can be great for weekend trips or extended vacations.
So you purchased your luggage and you decided to pack lite for your vacation. Next comes your essentials, here we can go two different ways. First, you can pack for comfort, and chances are you won’t look your best. Second, you can include your personal style and really express your confidence in your style of dress. For personal items such as lotions, toothbrush, toothpaste, brush, etc etc all go into a Dopp kit. It would suck to get to your destination and you open your luggage and see lotion on your tuxedo pants (speaking from experience) so if you haven’t invested in a Dopp kit, do so.
There are some other key essentials such as packing t-shirts, jeans, chinos, button-downs (dressy or casual), a navy sportcoat or suit for that just in case moment, swim shorts, shorts, clean underwear, loafers, timepiece, belt, low top sneakers, and sandals or slides. If you’re planning or main focus is staying on the beach all day with swim shorts and a t-shirt then so be it, but enjoying yourself at a few local events, networking, socializing, and hitting up a happy hour requires effort and more of a personal style. Investing in quality items can last you a very long time and continue to compliment your personal style.
Before leaving to Miami I wanted to replace an old pair of slides and spotted Brandblack, a lifestyle brand based in LA. I paired my Kashiba II slides with a black/white Hawaiian shirt, beige Uniqlo trousers and brown tortoiseshell sunglasses. A very simple and contemporary take on style with black and white hues, comfortable for a beach or even a great outfit for an on beach bar or event.
